Child and Youth Programs
A full of array of programs are offered on Ramstein and Vogelweh. We have several Child Development Centers as well as Youth Activity Centers around the Kaiserslautern Military Community. Once the family has become "members" of the CDC and/or Youth Center, families can use other centers throughout Ramstein and Vogelweh.

Child Care Programs on the Installation
******Due to the lack of off-base child care facilities, it is highly recommended you take action on child care issues before PCSing to Ramstein. Both Child Development Centers and School Age Care programs have waiting lists. We encourage you to place your child/children on the appropriate waiting list through your sponsor or by contacting the CDC as soon as you receive orders. You can also check them out online through the 86th Force Support Squadron website, click on Airmen and Family Services.

Child Care Programs in the Community
-- Family Child Care
Family Child Care Licensed and Affiliated Providers can be found both on base and in the surrounding communities. Many providers offer Air Force Subsidized Rates, PCS Care, Full Time Care, Hourly Care, Extended Duty Care, Special Needs Care and Shift Care. Please contact the Family Child Care Office for the most current listing of FCC providers. New listings are available the 5th of every month.

Non-affiliated child care off base is normally through a private contract with an individual or German kindergarten facility.

School Age Care
This program is for children from 5 to 12 years old, with either before school care, after school care or both available. The School Age Care Program is open Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hourly care is provided on a space available basis.

Child and Youth Programs
Child and youth programs provides quality, accessible and sustainable child care and recreational outlets for children 6 weeks to 18 years of age. Child care is provided on a full-day or hourly basis for children 6 weeks to
12 years of age. Care is designed to protect the health and safety of our
children, promote physical, social, emotional and intellectual development.

Youth programs provides recreational outlets for youth to develop physical,
social, emotional and cognitive abilities. This is done through the
delivery of organized programs in five core areas such as: character and
leadership, the arts, fitness and recreation, health and life skills and
education and career development. Youth programs is a proud partner of
Boys and Girls Clubs of America and USDA/4-H.

Schools
Ramstein's Elementary, Intermediate, Middle and High School are part of the Department of Defense Education Activity Europe, Kaiserslautern District. These schools have been fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

The school population consists primarily of dependents of American military and DoD civilians. There are a few tuition paying pupils who enroll on a space available basis.
