  • Germany has implemented country entrance requirements requiring anyone destined for Germany to digitally register here before they travel. Upon arrival, you must show proof of registering before Customs/Immigrations will clear you into the country. A fine up to 25,000 Euros could be imposed on each passenger not registering and not able to provide proof.
  • Germany has strict COVID testing and quarantine requirements for travelers arriving from risk areas.  Please click here to see the latest guidance and requirements before you attempt to travel to Germany.
  • Incoming personnel must reserve on-base lodging as soon as possible due to the policy to quarantine on base. Reservations should be made immediately after receiving their arrival date. No need to wait for orders.
  • Many agencies have altered their customer service procedures as a result of COVID-19.  Check our COVID-19 page or contact the individual agency to verify current procedures.
  • After you arrive and complete your mandatory quarantine, ensure you and your family properly enroll in the TRICARE Overseas Program (TOP). Stop by the TRICARE Service Center to provide a copy of your orders and enrollment paperwork. If this is not accomplished within 90 days of arrival, the command sponsored active-duty family members will be defaulted to TOP Select coverage.  TOP Select is a self-managed, preferred-provider option for those who are not enrolled in TOP Prime, which means the family members will be “space available” in Ramstein’s Medical Clinic.  If you are able to schedule an appointment with an on-base provider, then you are enrolled.  Otherwise, check your enrollment by emailing the TRICARE Service Center at usaf.ramstein.86-mdg.list.mdss-tricare-enrollments-all@mail.mil.
  • Off-duty and leave travel outside the local area (which is defined by unit commanders) requires prior approval by unit leadership.

Off-Base uniform policy

Off-base uniform policy: Members are not authorized to wear uniforms off base except for traveling between home and their duty location.  Uniformed members should only exit their vehicle off base if an emergency exists. The policy also forbids the wear of a uniform while commuting on a motorcycle, bicycle or as a pedestrian outside of installation confines. Members staying in off-base hotels should limit wearing uniforms in public areas to the greatest extent possible.  Any deviation to this policy must be routed to your Anti-Terrorism Representative.
