Childcare, schools & family programs

There are a wealth of programs for family members in the Kaiserslautern Miltiary Community.

Though you can wait to get familiar with many of these programs once you arrive, there are a few things you can do early to help ease the transition for you and your family.

Spouses
All spouses should sign up with Airman & Family Readiness Center to attend the "Ramstein Spouses Orientation Course" offered Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Building 2120 (A&FRC).

You can also check out the various groups in the area (Ramstein Officers Spouses Club and the Ramstein Enlisted Spouses Association), and check out the spouses' inprocessing checklist for tips on what to do upon arrival.

Special Needs Identification & Assignment Coordinator/Exceptional Family Member Program
This agency is collated with Family Advocacy in Bldg. 2121. Their primary function is to determine special needs requirements for assignment purposes and assist families in finding a suitable installation based on their unique needs. For more information, please contact DSN: 314-479-2370.

Child Care Programs on the Installation
******Due to the lack of off-base child care facilities, it is highly recommended you take action on child care issues before PCSing to Ramstein. Both Child Development Centers and School Age Care programs have waiting lists. We encourage you to place your child/children on the appropriate waiting list through your sponsor or by contacting the CDC as soon as you receive orders. You can also check them out online through the 86th Force Squadron Web site, click on Airmen and Family Services.
