The Kaiserslautern Military Community Housing Management Office is primed to support all military members and DOD civilian employees in securing a home on base (military only) or on the local economy. Upon arriving to the KMC area, you must view the mandatory housing briefing for your status. The brief covers eligibility for Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA), counseling and guidance prior to signing a written lease or rental/sales contract for housing.  It is advised to wait until you arrive to secure housing in order to tour available units. 

All DOD-eligible civilians and military members are required to complete an in-person housing briefing within 48 hours of arriving on station. In-Processing Housing Briefings are held at 0900 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the KMC Housing Office and on Wednesdays at Ramstein as part of the M&FRC Newcomers Orientation. Housing applications may be submitted to kmchousing@us.af.mil no more than 30 days prior to a service member’s scheduled arrival and must include a copy of PCS orders. A step-by-step instructional video for filling out the housing paperwork can be found here but is not a substitution for attending an in-person housing briefing.
