Brig. Gen. Jon. T. Thomas, 86th Airlift Wing commander, expressed his concern and condolences after news that Airman 1st Class Spencer Stone had been stabbed at an off-base establishment on the evening of Oct. 7 in Sacramento, California.

Stone, who was previously assigned to the 65th Air Base Group, Lajes Field, a geographically separated unit of the 86th Airlift Wing, is in the process of reassignment to the 60th Air Mobility Wing, Travis Air Force Base, California.

"It is troubling to hear that Airman Stone has been injured in this incident after he only recently recovered from wounds inflicted during his heroic actions on the train in France Aug. 21,"said Thomas. "Every Airman is a vital part of our Air Force family and each member's safety and well-being are always a top priority.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Spencer and his family, and we wish him a speedy recovery."

The incident is under investigation by California authorities.
