Ramstein pays tribute to 9/11 victims, first responders
The U.S. flag is held by a Ramstein honor guardsman during the 9/11 retreat ceremony Sept. 11, 2015, at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. The ceremony paid respects to the nearly 3,000 lives lost 14 years ago, including the first responders that helped people escape the collapsing World Trade Center towers. The ceremony, as well as many like it held around the world, echoes George W. Bush’s sentiments after the attacks, “None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.” (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Lane T. Plummer)
