Children remembered during Kindergraves ceremony
U.S. Air Force Capt. Cyriacus Onyejegbu, 86th Airlift Wing chaplain, speaks with the audience during the Kindergraves memorial service May 16, 2015, in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Children buried here were no more than 12 months old during 1952 to 1971, most died of various childhood diseases or birth complications. Representatives from Ramstein Air Base, Germany, and the host nation serve as co-chairs for the Kaiserslautern Kindergraves Memorial Foundation which maintains open communication with families, preserves historical archives, conducts ceremonies and provides oversight to site maintenance.
