C-5M
Members from the Combined Noise Abatement Committee and Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, watch a C-5M acoustic demonstration on Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Sept. 30, 2009. The CNAC consists of members of the Kaiserslautern Military Community and local German officials who regularly meet to discuss noise abatement issues in the community. The meeting was followed by a briefing and demonstration that focused on the Air Force’s new C-5M. Part of the Air Force's continual effort to modernize its inventory, the new model provides increased climb capability and produces less noise when compared to previous C-5 models. Ramstein is a major hub for mobility and airlift operations throughout Europe and downrange, and hosts a variety of other aircraft on its flightline, to include C-5s. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech.
