VRS ensures snow fleet ready to roll

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany --  Recent dips in temperatures are a good indication that snow and ice are on the way.

The 86th Vehicle Readiness Squadron special purpose snow team is a 14-man team that has five months to repair 35 vehicles before the winter.

A two-man team is assigned to each vehicle and the repairs take, on average, 60 hours per vehicle.

Rebuilds consist of vehicle repairs to aircraft deicers, snow brooms, snow plows and salt spreaders. Repairs began May 1 and continue until Sept. 30.
