86th FSS gives back to the community Published Nov. 8, 2013 By Airman 1st Class Jordan Castelan 86th Airlift Wing Public Affairs RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- Raising community morale year round is spearheaded by the 86th Force Support Squadron with activities and events including the Rockin' 4th of July, NCAA basketball games, organizing U.S.O. events and awarding prizes to the community. By giving back and organizing events around the KMC, the 86th FSS has its sights set on always improving the lives of those living here. Recently the 86th FSS has been responsible for awarding a $1,000 scholarship, more than $2,500 in cash prizes, various electronics, Air Force Club memberships, discounts and two round-trip tickets to see an NFL game in Arizona. Zintkala Eiring, daughter of Chief Master Sgt. Chadwick Eiring, United States Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa public affairs functional manager, was among the winners of the Air Force Club Scholarship offered through the 86th FSS. Zintkala Eiring said in a previous interview, she earned the scholarship about her inspiration, her father. She added that the scholarship will greatly help her in her future educational endeavors. The 86th FSS wants KMC members to discover all of the facilities, free events, and programs they have to offer. Whether it's offering a variety of food and drink specials at dining facilities, becoming active at the fitness centers with group classes or personal training, the 86th FSS is trying to give back to the community. Family programs including family child care, school age programs, teen centers and youth sports are also available and the Ramstein, as well as the Vogelweh Community Center, offer concert tickets, language classes for all levels, music lessons, family nights, bingo nights and more. "We put people first," said Lt.Col Keithen Washington, 86th FSS commander. "We take pride in what we do and we strive to preform our mission in a way that exceeds exceptions."
