Lifestyle: Garden fair hosts Celtic spring fest Published April 29, 2010 By Petra Lessoing 86th Airlift Wing Public Affairs KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany -- The Kaiserslautern Gartenschau will host the Celtic-medieval spring fest "Beltane" May 1 and 2. The fest will feature a medieval market and knights' camp. The medieval association "Waldlauefer" will present how life was in the Middle Ages, showcasing a camp with knights presenting show fights, Vikings, Celts, crusaders, jugglers, bards and dancers. Visitors can test their skills in jousting, archery and pony riding. The main attraction will be a medieval market with numerous stands and booths, offering oriental jewelry, clothes, leather goods, furs, ceramics and pottery. Craftsmen and artisans will demonstrate how specific products were created in former centuries. Culinary specialties will include a medieval stew, bread dumplings with mushroom sauce, salami made of venison, fresh bread, mead and liquors. The group Luminis-Ignis will present a big fire show with fire-eaters and magicians as it gets dark May 1. A rooster carking contest is scheduled for 11 a.m. May 2.
