The Army and Air Force Exchange Service kicked off a ship-from-store initiative to expedite orders for customers using shopmyexchange.com October 2016 at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

Orders will now process through the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center and ship via the military postal system, versus processing and shipping from stateside Exchange distribution centers.

The new process reduces shipping times for customers not only locally, but also regionally and even those in deployed locations. Samantha Davis, Ramstein KMC main store manager, believes the new innovations in the program will benefit many people.

“The program is designed to speed up the process between when customers order an item and when they receive it,” Davis said. “Customers will receive items they purchase online much quicker than before if the KMCC has it in stock.”

AAFES customers are not the only ones who benefit from this initiative. Lt. Col. James Huso, 2nd Air Postal Squadron commander, states the program will also benefit the Department of Defense.

“When a package is sent from the U.S., the shipper only pays to move the item to one of the stateside military mail gateways,” Huso said. “The DoD then pays to move the item to your military post office. Under this initiative, the item is already in theater so the trans-Atlantic cost is removed.”

With the new shipment process, members of the KMC can receive orders quicker, and it happens with the help of hard-working Airmen here.
