Children from Ramstein and Kaiserslautern middle schools played in an adaptive sports soccer game at Kaiserslautern High School on Vogelweh Military Complex, Sept. 22, 2016.

Adaptive sports are a series of sports games organized by the Kaiserslautern Military Community First Four, a private organization open to junior enlisted from E-1 to E-4 from all branches of the military, the events are held throughout the year and are modified to allow children with disabilities the opportunity to play sports and hone their social and physical skills.

“The adaptive sports program was started a few years back because the Special Olympics wasn’t around in this area and these kids needed something,” said Airman 1st Class Allison Malaska, 86th Medical Operations Squadron medical technician. “It is always going to be important to get these kids out and do the things they love.”
