KMC resident reaps AFPC scholarship

RAMSTEIN, AIR BASE, Germany -- -- Twenty-five individuals were recently selected for the Air Force Personnel Center's Air Force Club scholarship, including the daughter of an Airman here.

Zintkala Eiring, daughter of Chief Master Sgt. Chadwick Eiring, United States Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa public affairs functional manager, was among the winners.

I wrote about how my dad inspires me, and my Sioux heritage," said Zintkala. "He has always been my hero, and the struggles my people have had to endure for the past hundreds of years have always inspired me."

A total of 156 entries Air Force-wide were submitted to the Air Force Personnel Center. Applicants wrote a 500-word essay on what inspired them to be successful and why.

"I'm incredibly proud of Zintkala and to have her write about me as an inspiration came as a surprise," said Eiring. "Really, I truly feel honored to be mentioned in her essay. We are very excited and thankful to Air Force Services for helping fund her college education."

Each winner received a $1,000 scholarship, a laptop and a portable printer to assist in education costs. Air Force Clubs commit to building a community among Airmen and their families. Scholarships offered to help pay for the cost of school are one of the ways they achieve this.
