2014 Ramstein poetry contest winners annouced Published May 16, 2014 By Bret Helenius 86th Force Support Squadron Marketing RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- The Ramstein Library announced May 15 the winners of the local poetry contest in honor of National Poetry Month held every April. Alexa Applebury, Mary Triche and Elisabeth Blank were selected from the following categories; Ages 10 and under, 11-17, and 18 and over. Over 40 entries were received and written in many styles, including haiku, free verse and cinquain. Applebury won with her cinquain-style poem in the 10 and under category. Blank captured the judge's attention with her poem "The Orange Ball" which won her first place in the 11-17 category. Triche took first for the 18 and over category, with her poem titled "Ageless". All three winners received great prizes, including books, games, and DVDs. "We were so impressed by the talent here in the KMC, and thank all of the participants for sharing their work with us," said Alison McKee, Ramstein Librarian.
