Yesterday, 16 Dec 14, we had a large water main break near building 2781 on Kapaun.  The water line break was quickly isolated and is expected to be fully repaired by 4 p.m. Dec. 17.  Water line breaks are not uncommon, and generally do not have a negative impact on the entire system.   However, any water line break has a potential to allow dirt and other environmental contaminates to enter the water system.

Although this particular situation has a low risk of contamination to the system, to be on the safe side, a boil water advisory has been issued to all residents/tenants on Kapaun, Pulaski and Vogelweh west of the B270.  This water line break did not affect the installation east of B270, and there is no boil water advisory for these areas.

Water quality testing should be complete by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18 and at that time we expect to declare the water safe for consumption.  The water is perfectly safe for personal hygiene (showers, washing dishes, etc.). We will keep affected Vogelweh and Kapaun residents advised as we progress.

For those who have children attending the schools/CDCs on affected areas of Kapaun, Pulaski and Vogelweh west of the B270, we recommend parents provide additional bottled water for their children to cover the requirements for tomorrow's sessions.
