Gen. Carlton D. Everhart, Air Mobility Command commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Shelina Frey, AMC command chief, visited Airmen from the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing March 9 through 10.

The visit gave Everhart and Frey a chance to see how 521st AMOW Airmen expedite the Air Force's global reach with command and control, maintenance support and air transportation services.

This visit was not Everhart's first time in Germany. He served as the 3rd Air Force vice commander from 2012 to 2014 and as the 3rd Air Force commander from February to June 2014.

During his visit, Everhart toured several 521st AMOW facilities and conducted an all-call to discuss what the future may hold as well as express the importance of their mission and answer some questions from the Airmen.

"This is the main hub of Europe; I truly hope you understand that," Everhart said. "Global mobility is air power. Never, ever forget that."

Frey also stressed the importance of remembering the role every member of the Air Force plays in the Air Force mission, whether they are civilian employees or military members.

"At the end of the day, we're warfighters, but we have to integrate that total force with us," said Frey.
Other topics discussed include the budget plan for 2017, the new retirement system and updates on the KC-46 Pegasus.

"There's a lot of things going on in our Air Force," said Everhart. "We just want to open up the aperture for you to take a look at and to understand what's going on."
Toward the end, Everhart encouraged Airmen to take pride in their job.

"This room right here is filled with heroes," Everhart said. "That is you. We are so proud to serve side by side with you."

The general and command chief concluded the all-call by commending the 521st AMOW Airmen for their performance and thanking them for their service.

"Thank you for what you do every single day," said Everhart. "We are the world's greatest air power because of you, our Airmen."
