Royal Air Force sergeant attends local NCO academy

KAPAUN AIR STATION, Germany --  For the first time since 1992, a sergeant from the Royal Air Force is attending class at the Kisling NCO Academy on Kapaun Air Station. 

RAF Sgt. David E. Madin, Airman's Command Squadron instructor at Halton, England, took advantage of the opportunity to attend the academy on Kapaun for a six-week course that will strengthen the bonds between the U.S. Air Force and the RAF. 

Sergeant Madin instructs at the RAFs NCO academy, which deals with both junior and senior enlisted members. 

"By attending a U.S. Air Force NCO class, I will be able to create a professional bond between both militaries and compare the process of both nations' schooling," said Sergeant Madin. 

"He is a student representing his nation, and we are developing lessons learned on both sides to help make our schools better," said Senor Master Sgt. Jerry Phillips II, director of education at the Kisling NCOA. 

Taking the necessary steps to build a stronger military and allies are beneficial beyond the classroom. 

"With the situations in today's world and the global war on terrorism, a joint environment is key to winning the fight. The joint aspect doesn't stop with our own U.S. military. We are working with all of our friends and allies to make the world a better place, and I see this as a critical step to accomplishing our National Security goals," said Tech. Sgt. Jason Baldwin, Professional Military Education Instructor for the Kisling NCO Academy. "Sergeant Madin is here to strengthen the bonds between the U.S. Air Force and the RAF." 

Sergeant Madin's class is scheduled to graduate on Sept. 11.
