Each one, teach one: German logistics school visits Ramstein

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany --  Students from the logistics school of the Bundeswehr, German Armed Forces, visited the 86th Logistic Readiness Group here July 6.

The school of the Bundeswehr is a central-training facility for all basic and advanced logisticians in the German military. The center trains all professionals from the German air force, army and navy on supply, transportation and fuels.

The school is also responsible for developing a new management system for hazardous material within the Bundeswehr, which is why these two logistical groups joined together to exchange knowledge.

As one of the largest groups on Ramstein, the 86th LRG gave a tour with a breakdown of each section and an expert briefer, giving the German group firsthand knowledge of the logistics capabilities.

The goal of the visit was to deliver logistical knowledge, improve rapid outload capabilities skills, and loading and outloading munitions as fast and efficiently as possible. They also have high-definition patient lifting platforms, which are equipped with a hospital setup and used to transport critical care patients.

Next was the traffic movement operation, which focuses on transferring personnel and property from base to base and clean dry fuel, which refers to top-quality fuel with no discrepancies. 

"This was the first of hopefully many visits between the 86th Logistics Readiness Group and the German Armed Forces School of Logistics," said  2nd Lt. Joshua Caskey, 86th Logistics Readiness Squadron acting operations officer.  "The visit was met with a huge success as they found our capabilities to be helpful in growing their own logistics personnel."

There is always a bigger picture when it comes to sharing knowledge and advancement. Building friendships and partnerships are just the start to accomplishment. For the Bundeswehr troops, the visit to the 86th LRG will allow the students to take back lessons and ideas to the German logistics school to enhance capabilities and build a stronger unit.
