Security Forces Airmen from around the Air Force attend Ranger Assessment/Selection course at Ledward Barracks, Germany, April 12, 2012.

The 14-day training hosted by the 435th Air Ground Operation Wing prepares and instills leadership and survival skills vital to complete the 61-day U.S. Army Ranger Course.

Since 1955 only 225 Airmen have successfully completed Ranger school. That is .00068 percent of the total force. With those kinds of numbers one can only imagine the selection process.

Rangers selected from RASC hold a 99.9 percent Ranger School successful completion rate.

Airmen must pass all 28 evaluations including a 12-mile ruck march [ruck weighing from 35 to 50 pounds of equipment] within three hours, physical training tests and the Combat Water Survival Test.

This course is offered to military grade E-3 and above, open to all military services and duty titles and held annually between the months of March and May.
