Members of Team Ramstein host Retiree Appreciation Day Published Oct. 11, 2012 By Airman 1st Class Trevor Rhynes 86th Airlift Wing Public Affairs RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- The annual Retiree Appreciation Day kicked off Oct. 12, at the Officer's Club with speeches from wing leadership. Retiree Appreciation Day is an informational fair for retirees in the Kaiserslautern Military Community that informs them on what is available to them and things they are entitled to. This year's events began at 8 a.m. and carried on until noon. "Agencies from all over the base were available throughout the day to talk about what they offer retirees," said Staff Sgt. Barbara Coddington, one of two Retiree Appreciation Day planners. "Representatives from different agencies presented information, and were available to answer follow-up questions later that morning." Planning the event took coordination between the agencies speaking throughout the day, the Retiree Affairs Office and the Officer's Club, which hosted the event. "This year's event wouldn't have happened without the support from multiple organizations" SSgt Coddington said. "Without them, this event wouldn't have run as smoothly as it has." Some key points in the day's events are; a speech by Col. Kenneth Bibb, 86th Airlift Wing vice commander, a tricare briefing, flu shots being provided and agencies will be available for an hour-long Q-and-A session.
