Adaptive defense force steps up
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Charles Zimmerman, 569th U.S. Forces Police Squadron desk sergeant, and Airman 1st Class Cooper Thomas, 569th USFPS installation duty controller, set up washing stations at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Aug. 27, 2021. Washing stations are placed around the pods ensuring evacuee sanitation needs are met. Ramstein, a transient location for evacuees from Afghanistan, is providing temporary lodging, food, medical services and treatment while they await transportation to other resettlement locations. Ramstein Air Base transformed into U.S. European Command’s primary evacuation hub, supporting one of the largest, most complex humanitarian airlift operations in history.
