Airlifter of the Week: 37th AS loadmaster Published Nov. 13, 2018 By Senior Airman Joshua Magbanua 86th Airlift Wing Public Affairs RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- A loadmaster from the 37th Airlift Squadron received the honor of being Ramstein’s first Airlifter of the Week on Nov. 9, 2018.The 86th Airlift Wing commander and command chief lauded U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Alexander Carlson for his excellence in executing the Air Force’s missions across multiple theaters of operation.Carlson, a California native, is credited with leading a highly-trained team during an important bilateral training event with allied forces. He also led a team to evacuate U.S. troops and their equipment during a mission in a deployed location. “It’s a very humbling experience for me to receive this recognition, especially since I didn’t join the military looking for accolades,” Carlson said. “Knowing I was able to do all these things, it’s a nice feeling.”Aside from his operational accomplishments, Carlson also developed a training system for his fellow loadmasters, thereby ensuring his squadron remains ready to fly and fight anytime. Carlson expressed gratitude for having a supervisor who pushed him to be the best Airman he can be, and also said he was thankful for having the opportunity to serve in the U.S. Air Force. “Since I’ve been serving, I have had the opportunity to go to many places I would never have thought I would get to see,” he said. “I am very proud to be a C-130J Super Hercules loadmaster. It’s awesome to serve in the military.” The Airlifter of the Week program recognizes Ramstein Airmen who through their hard work and dedication make the 86th AW the World’s Best Wing.
