RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- Whether you are looking for a new fitness regimen or want to knock off the holiday weight, Ramstein's Southside Fitness Center is hosting its seventh annual Kaiserslautern Military Community’s ‘Biggest Loser’ challenge to help members around the KMC reach their 2017 fitness goals.
Starting Jan. 9, participants will make a 10-week commitment to losing weight while working out and taking classes that encourage the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
During the challenge, there will be three scheduled weigh-ins to determine progress and measure the percentage of weight loss.
At the initial weigh-in, registered participants will receive a mass briefing and a packet that includes calendars for fitness classes such as spinning, swimming, yoga, and rock climbing.
The package also includes a fitness class tracker, tickets to free classes, and more information about the point system in the program.
“It’s alright to relax during the holidays, but it’s important to maintain discipline when it comes to staying fit to fight,” said Airman 1st Class James Osborne, 786th Force Support Squadron fitness specialist.
Last year over 300 participants signed up for the challenge.
“This is a great opportunity to learn different workouts, be more competitive with fitness, and find out what works best for you,” said Senior Airman Caroline Spellen, 786th FSS fitness specialist. “It’s a wealth of information and a great way to help people to understand what fitness is and how important it is.”
For a $20 fee, participants can register as an individual male, female, or team of two for this self-pace program at Ramstein’s SSFC from now until Jan. 6. All participants that register receive a free t-shirt, a chance to win a massage, and other prizes.
To join the competition to be the biggest loser, please contact the Ramstein SSFC at DSN 480-0295 or commercially at 06371-47-0295.
