7/18/2012 - RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- The Kaiserslautern Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, Chapter 158 hosted the 2012 Technology Expo at the Officer's Club, here, July 17 through 18.
This year's theme, "Discovering solutions for every mission" reached more than 700 service members, civilians and contractors on the advances in modern technology to support global warfighting capabilities.
Approximately 75 exhibitors attended the event, each highlighting a different field of technology thought to be new and of interest to the military community. Most exhibits offered hands-on interaction and take-away gadgets, while others were information based.
"Great expo CommScope was by far the highlight of my experience here," said Staff Sgt. Daryl Carn, U. S. Air Forces in Europe Inspector General office manager. "The abilities demonstrated were mind-boggling. I did not know they were even possible."
According to CommScope's website, they are a leader in providing fast, technically advanced secure communications. CommScope configured two secure networks and allowed attendees to transmit video and audio, demonstrating the increase in connection and transmission quality.
"There was quite a range of advanced services and communications technology that I think could be very useful in the workplace, especially in communications," said Master Sgt. Vance Clark, USAFE Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Future Operations manager.
The expo included exhibits from Dell Inc., HP, Cisco, Verizon, B&H Photo, Video, Pro Audio, CommVault, DRS Defense Solutions and offered a networking area, where attendees conversed about the exhibits, new advancements and future possibilities.
The next Technology Expo is scheduled for February 2013.
