Family dinner in Normandy for D-Day 79

Normandy locals explain the process of family dinner night during D-Day 79 celebrations in Sainte-Mère-Église, France, June 1, 2023. The purpose of the dinner was to pair U.S. military members with local French families to discuss culture, military life and share stories about the significance of celebrating the liberation of D-Day. The lives of the service members lost in 1944 cannot be paid back, but the Normandy locals showed their appreciation for the selfless service and sacrifice of the Americans who stormed the beaches 79 years ago in defense of global peace and security.
