Silver Flag builds runways, multi-capable Airmen

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Nicolas Erjavesk, Portland Air National Guard Base, Ore. 142nd Civil Engineer Squadron heavy equipment operator, uses a power washer to clean equipment used to pour concrete between pours at Ramstein Air Base, Germany during a Silver Flag training course, Nov. 17, 2021. Silver Flag teaches members from civil engineer, force support and vehicle maintenance career fields to learn skills necessary to complete large-scale base recovery and rapid air field damage recovery operations, which may be outside their primary duties. It is necessary to clean the equipment between pours to prevent the concrete from drying and the jamming the machine.
