569 USFPS, 86 AMXS raise DUI awareness
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Madison Alicea, 569th U.S. Forces Police Squadron unit training instructor, left, conducts a horizontal gaze nystagmus test on Airman 1st Class Jason Young, 86th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron C-130 Integrated Communications/Counter-Measures/Navigation Systems apprentice, during a DUI/DWI wet lab training at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Nov. 15, 2021. The HGN test is based on observation of involuntary jerking movements of the eyes as they follow horizontal motion. Airmen attending the training observed HGN and other sobriety test results, witnessing first-hand the effects varying levels of alcohol consumption have on coordination and thought processing.
