Ramstein, Spangdahlem Airmen remember the Wereth 11
Volunteer honor guardsman from the village of Wereth, Belgium present flags during a ceremony to honor the memory of the Wereth 11, in Wereth, Belgium, March 24, 2017. Every year, community members joined Airmen from Ramstein Air Base and Spangdahlem Air Base to conduct a ceremony to honor 11 African American soldiers, now known as the Wereth 11, who were captured, tortured and executed by the Nazi SS during World War II.
