Ramstein leadership joins Airmen, celebrates Thanksgiving

Brig. Gen. Richard Moore, 86th Airlift Wing commander, carves into a turkey to give to an Airmen during a Thanksgiving meal at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Nov. 24, 2016. Leaders gathered to serve holiday meals to Airmen and their families and to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. In the U.S., the modern Thanksgiving holiday tradition can trace its origins back to 1621 in the heart of a newly-founded city called Plymouth in present-day Massachusetts. However, the first nationwide Thanksgiving proclamation was made by the first president of the U.S., George Washington, in 1789. Since then, the holiday has been celebrated by an entire nation to recount the blessings of the year. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Lane T. Plummer)
