Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11 and commemorates military veterans who currently serve or have served the U.S. armed forces, including those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. According to the DoD and Veterans Administration, since World War I, approximately 624,000 U.S. servicemembers have been killed in action battling in wars and conflicts.
