86th FSS celebrates the day of love

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany --  Candy, balloons, flowers and stuffed animals cover the tables at the Ramstein Community Center, ready to be bought by people in preperation to celebrate the day of love. Members of the 86th Force Support Squadron prepared hundreds of gift baskets for this year's Cupid's Valentine Gift Shop.

Volunteers worked for weeks to prepare gift baskets that range from small children's baskets to extra-large gift baskets filled with candy, candles, bath items, stuffed animals, wine and beer. A large selection of balloons is also available for purchase.

"If you want a cuddly toy, something for your kids or something for a friend or spouse, anything at all, we got it," said Marcie Cerf, 86th FSS Ramstein Community Center program director.

Showing love and gratitude to the ones who mean most with a nice gift could make for an amazing Valentine's Day.

"There's nothing like Valentine's Day," said Cerf. "The day of love. The day to show appreciation to your children and your family."

Celebrating the holiday of love, named after the Catholic bishop, Saint Valentine, is a tradition that dates back to the saint's death on Feb. 14, around the year 269 A.D.

"It kind of brightens up that dreary weather out there," said Cerf. "We love Valentine's Day!"

The Cupid's Valentine Gift Shop runs to Feb. 14 with Cupid Volunteers delivering baskets to members of the Kaiserslautern Military Community while dressed in heart vests, red bow ties and festive hats.

Come on out to the Ramstein Community Center and grab a gift basket, balloon or stuffed animal for the ones that matter most and don't forget to fill out a card to go with your basket signed "From your Valentine" in honor of Saint
