Airman awarded Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement

The critical care expertise of U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Matthew Parker, 86th Medical Squadron surgical services superintendent, was pivotal to the safe transportation of 11 multi-national and joint service members, including three ventilated critical care patients, eight non-critical patients and five attendants to higher echelons of care, all while acting in response to a mass casualty evacuation operation at Hamid Karzai International Airport, Afghanistan, on August 27, 2021.
