The Kaiserslautern Military Community Little League All-Star team earned a spot in the Little League World Series by beating Ukraine 10-0 in five innings.

This win marked the first time since 1999 that the Ramstein, in fact a team from the Department of Defense, has made it to the Little League World Series.

KMC got things started in the 2nd inning after pitcher; Cody "Frodo" Prince hit a leadoff single. On a base hit, catcher, Matthew "Zimmy" Zembraski stole second and went to third on a fastball and scored on a line drive from infielder, Dan "Flapjack" Tolarchyk.

In the 3rd inning second baseman, Jacob "Vanholba" Van Parys hit a solo blast over the left centerfield fence, making it 2-0 after three innings.

The 4th inning brought more of the same scoring KMC All-Star fans have come to expect when third baseman, Mike "Begal" Bega hit a single to scoring first baseman, Mackenzie "M&M" Mueller. Soon after, shortstop, Chris "Holbasaur" Holba hit a single to score leftfielder, Tyler "TP" Pecht. Vanholba ended the inning scoring when he hit a double to score Begal and Holbasaur.

The All-Stars erupted for another four runs in the 5th when Frodo started the inning with a walk, and Zimmy grounded into a fielder's choice at second. Zembraski scored from 1st when the rightfielder misplayed a Flapjack fly ball. All-Star centerfielder Santee "Stinger" Jackson hit a bunt forcing multiple errors and scoring Tolarchyk and Jackson.

The KMC All-Stars finished the tournament by scoring 87 while giving up only five runs. Holbasaur who pitched most of the game, ended throwing 76 pitches 11 strike-outs, while giving up only one walk and one hit.

"These kids are on cloud nine right now! I don't think they really know or fully understand what it is they've just accomplished but I'm sure it will sink in soon," said Chief Master Sgt. Dennis Daubert, father of centerfielder Tylour Daubert.

Now what's next? The KMC All-Stars Little League Team is going to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Penn., and AFN TV will be broadcasting their first three games live on AFN Family. The first game is scheduled for Aug. 21 at 9 p.m. Central European Time, when the All-Stars go head-to head with the Little League team from China. Games scheduled for August 24 and 25 will both be aired on AFN Family, live.

"As a parent I'm just so proud of my son and the rest of the team," said Chief Daubert . "It really doesn't matter what happens from here on out--a once in a life time experience they will never forget! They have made us all extremely proud!"
