Cirque Dreams wows military members, their families on world tour

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany --  Military members and their families formed an almost mile-long line and waited in cold, rainy weather to get a chance to see the jungle-themed Cirque Dreams performance at Hangar 2 here, Feb. 18.

More than 5,000 audience members came from the surrounding area to see the two free performances held for military members and their families.

There was a singing lady bug, spinning bees, dancing reptiles and jungle boys who would interact with audience members. The shows included upbeat music while a performer played along with a violin.

"The show was great, I liked when they would swing around and fly in the air," said Nathan Caiafa, 6, son of Army Pfc. Paul Caiafa, Motorpool.

According to the performers, although they have devoted years of their life perfecting their art, the show is still physically demanding.

"We usually train 12 to 16 hours a day preparing for our shows," said Lee Reisig, Cirque Dreams performer. "I love performing for military members and their families because they are so grateful and warm hearted."

The performances brought families together and provided entertainment for all of the hard working military members. One military spouse, Sarah Caiafa said, "I loved it! I knew it was going to be a good show but it was more than I anticipated."

The wait was worth it for the families who attended the shows as they were able to enjoy the colorful, exotic adventure that is Cirque Dreams.
