Airmen from the 435th Contingency Response Group traveled to Cerklje Air Base, Slovenia, to conduct a security familiarization event Jan. 21 through 25.

The 435th CRG is a uniquely suited organization for the building partnership missions. With 42 different career fields, the unit can engage with partner nations in core mission areas across the Air Force spectrum.

Master. Sgt. Jay Peavey, 435th CRG air advisor and security superintendent, led a four-man team to exchange ideas and identify possible improvements in the Cerklje airfield security process.

"This airfield security familiarization event was a valuable experience to further the partner relationship with the Slovene military," said Peavey. "Future exchange activities will benefit from this opportunity."

The security familiarization training enabled the Airmen to teach and learn new mission techniques from counterparts of other nations.

"It was a privilege to work with professional peers in pursuit of common airfield security goals," said Staff Sgt. Matthew Meadows, 435th CRG air advisor and security forces instructor. "This was an excellent learning opportunity for all participants."

With these partnerships, the U.S. is able to become familiar with new mission techniques of the Slovenian counterparts and improve partner nation interoperability.

"Security considerations are a cooperative endeavor by nature," said Peavey. "I was very impressed with the talent and capacity of my Slovenian allies and look forward to future engagement opportunities."
