Red Cross thanks OAW, COVID-19 volunteers

A note thanking American Red Cross volunteers for their work during Operation Allies Welcome and COVID-19 sits on a table during a volunteer recognition ceremony at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Sept. 28, 2021. RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany --

American Red Cross and U.S. military leadership thanked volunteers for donating their time and efforts in response to Operation Allies Welcome and COVID-19 during a volunteer recognition ceremony at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Sept. 28, 2021.

During OAW, volunteers provided 24/7 support to help with supplies, comfort kits and additional requests from the military. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, volunteers administered vaccines, cleaned and sanitized stations in between patients, screened patients for symptoms and helped with in-processing of patients receiving vaccines in the Kaiserslautern Military Community.
