Getting to Ramstein

Getting to the KMC

Ramstein's AMC Passenger Terminal
The easiest way to make your journey to Ramstein is through military air, landing you directly on base at the AMC Passenger Terminal. These tickets are booked through your military travel office and typically originate out of Baltimore. If you're bringing pets, this is an ideal way to come, particularly during the summer months when commercial flights have more restrictions on pet shipment. Inquire about what seats are available for pets early as they do fill up fast and they do cost.

More information can be found at the AMC Passenger Terminal Web site.

Frankfurt International
If you're arrival commercial into Frankfurt International Airport, you're just about 120km away from Ramstein (directions). Your sponsor should arrange to either meet you at the airport, or help you arrange transportation once you arrive.

People arriving to Germany shouldn't rent vehicles from the airport, because service members aren't authorized to drive motor vehicles without a USAREUR driver's license.

There are several shuttle services that will take you to the base, check out the shuttles listing in the FindIt Guide.

Check with your sponsor for additional information.

Getting around without a vehicle
Until your vehicle arrives, you can take buses, trains and taxis to get around the local area. Several military shuttle bus routes serve Ramstein and the KMC, as well as German bus services. You can find up-to-date shuttle-bus schedules at base billeting offices and the AMC Passenger terminal on Ramstein.

Shuttle buses pickup service members and Department of Defense civilian employees. Shuttle bus transportation is also offered to off-duty service members, DoD civilian employees, family members and retirees on a space-available basis only.
