RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- New Year, new app: Ramstein Air Base is kicking off the new decade by transitioning to the “USAF Connect” app, available on all smartphones, for all base-related information and notifications starting today.
The former RAB app is no longer being supported or updated. Personnel should download USAF Connect to receive time-sensitive notifications such as road condition changes.
The free USAF Connect app contains all the information found on the previous RAB app, such as the phone directory, access to base notifications and Appointments Plus, but includes advantages not featured within the former app.
The new app gives users access to CAC-enabled sites when paired with a mobile CAC reader. With this capability, users have mobile access to sites such as the Air Force Portal, Defense Travel System, eFinance, Webmail, and the Virtual Personnel Center.
In addition to this feature, the app also provides access to shortcuts such as AF Doctrine, e-Pubs, fitness assessment calculators, direct access to Ramstein’s website, and shortcuts to multiple local social media sites, including the 86th Security Forces Squadron, 435th Air Ground Operations Wing, and the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing.
86th Airlift Wing Public Affairs is working to incorporate the functionality of the old app, while providing these new features so servicemembers will experience a seamless transition from one app to the other.
As the name implies, USAF Connect is used broadly across the U.S. Air Force. After downloading the app, Ramstein personnel can search for Ramstein Air Base and make it a “Favorite.” Once a duty station is marked as a favorite, users will receive all relevant notifications for that installation. When personnel PCS from their current duty station, they can quickly re-designate their new duty location as a favorite.
With the rollout of this new app, feedback is both important and appreciated to continue streamlining service.
