Chief Master Sergeant JOSHUA J. WIENER

Chief Master Sergeant Joshua J. Wiener is the Command Chief, 435th Air Ground Operations Wing (U.S. European Command), Ramstein Air Base, Germany. This specialized wing provides battlefield and expeditionary Airmen to combatant commanders and is capable of responding to humanitarian and contingency operations throughout the world. The wing is comprised of three groups, 12 squadrons, and four detachments with more than 1,400 personnel at 26 operating locations in Germany, Italy and from the Baltics to the Balkans.

The Airmen of the 435th AGOW rapidly deploy to the forward edge of the battlespace to provide information superiority and airspace awareness; conduct tactical command and control, connect and enable the kill chain, and open and operate expeditionary airfields, in order to set the theater for employing integrated airpower inside an A2AD environment. Additionally, they provide JWICS and Deployable JWICS, multi-theater sustainment and support, deliver premier specialty training, and build partnership capacity across Europe and Africa. As the Command Chief, Chief Wiener is the senior enlisted advisor to the wing commander and is responsible for the health and welfare, development, training, combat readiness, recognition, discipline, and effective utilization of the organization’s multi-capable force.

Chief Wiener enlisted in the Air Force in September 1998 as an Aerospace Propulsion Apprentice.  During his tenure in the Air Force, he has worked, followed, and led at the section, flight, squadron, group, wing and MAJCOM levels, always focused on taking care of Airmen, growing future leaders and executing full-spectrum maintenance and operations on fifteen different airframes, including the C-141B, C-17A, C-5B, F-15C/D, F-22, B-52H, HH-60, HC-130J, F-16, F-35A, E-3G, E/RQ-4, KC-10, E-11B, and EC-130 aircraft. Chief Wiener has deployed three times in his career, to Prince Sultan Air Base Saudi Arabia during Operation SOUTHERN WATCH, to Al Asad Air Base Iraq during Operation INHERENT RESOLVE and FREEDOM SENTINEL, and finally to Al Dhafra Air Base United Arab Emirates during Operation INHERENT RESOLVE and SPARTAN SHIELD.

Prior to this assignment, he served as the Command Chief for both the 435th AGOW and 435th AEW, until their split.
