• Ramstein C-130s get a makeover

    RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany – U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 86th Maintenance Squadron painted liberation stripes and added decals to six C-130J Super Hercules aircraft in honor of American heritage, which will be displayed during the 80th anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 2024, over Normandy, France.

    Every year the streets of the small towns along the coast of Normandy are lined with banners and posters, flags are strung across the streets, and windows are painted with parachutists and C-47 aircraft in honor of D-Day.   • Remembering D-day; 76 years later

    To commemorate the 76th anniversary of D-Day, eight C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from the 37th Airlift Squadron performed low level formations over several different locations in France. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, D-day events were condensed from their normal week-long commemorations.

  • 74 years later, spirit of D-Day lives on

    U.S. and allied troops landed upon Normandy again— not to liberate the region from tyranny, but to honor those who did. Aircraft from the U.S. and other allied nations airdropped parachutists, both military and civilian, over the town of Sainte-Mère-Église to commemorate the Normandy campaign.
