After several months of renovations, the German Canteen on Ramstein Air Base, Germany, will reopen to the public May 23, 2018 at 6 a.m.

The 86th Civil Engineer Group conducted renovation work in the facility at the start of the New Year to ensure facility compliance with current German food service code standards.

“We are excited about the great promise a new contract operator of the German Canteen holds for the Ramstein Air Base community as well as authentic and wholesome German food at reasonable prices for all customers," said Richard Toney, 86th MSG deputy director.

The renovations of the German Canteen were sponsored by the 86th Mission Support Group. In cooperation with the German Works Council, Marie-Luise Vodde, previous operator of the German Canteen on Ramstein offered wholesome German meals to the base populace for the last 22 years here.

Since Vodde’s retirement, back in December 2017, Andreas Klein, the new concessionaire, will assume operations of the German Canteen.

The German Canteen, located in building 2400 here, will hold a grand reopening ceremony May 22, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., resuming daily hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m, Mondays through Fridays.

The German Canteen has served the Kaiserslautern Military Community authentic traditional cuisine for the past 40 years and will continue doing so with the reopening of the German Canteen.
