More than 300 Airmen participated in the full range of competitions during Ramstein Air Base's inaugural Oktober Fun Fest Oct. 21.

"We received a lot of positive feedback from several participants and the 86th Airlift Wing leadership," said Senior Master Sgt. Joel Steele, Oktober Fun Fest coordinator.

One of the events, the Amazing Race, was a challenge mentally and physically.

"It was tough, but we focused on each clue, figured out where we needed to go next and pushed through," said Staff Sgt. Michael Davis, tan team lead.

Participants of Oktober Fun Fest were able to use some of their military training in competitions like capture the flag using paintballs. Others chose a more relaxing competition like golf.

"Our committee hosted eight team-building activities," said Steele. "Participation for the inaugural event was excellent!"

Attendees of the celebratory lunch and awards ceremony also had the chance to win prizes. An iPad 2 was given away along with other door prizes and the Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas was awarded a check for $500.

This year's event was so successful there is no time to wait for next year.

"Event planning has already begun for next year's event," said Steele.
