RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany - -- U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 450th Intelligence Squadron organized a Hispanic Heritage Month event at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Sept. 30, 2022.
Each year, the United States observes National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, celebrating the history, culture and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
This year, the 450th IS celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by listening to Hispanic music and enjoying traditional Hispanic cuisine. For many, food plays a major role in culture and is a way to connect to their heritage, and Hispanic culture is no exception.
“Food is a language that everyone understands and connects to,” said Airman 1st Class Jason Cain, 450th IS all-source intelligence analyst. “What better way to celebrate than eating extremely good Hispanic food.”
Throughout the celebration, Airmen from the 450th IS not only enjoyed grilled fajitas, rice, tacos and other traditional Hispanic dishes but also had time to discuss Hispanic Heritage and what it meant to them.
“The Air Force as a whole has a diverse set of cultures, ethnicities and walks of
life,” said Tech. Sgt. Marc Howell, 450th IS intel analyst. “This helps bring innovative ways to tackle problems and new sets of tools to the Air Force.”
