RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- The Ramstein volunteer income tax assistance program is available for all Department of Defense ID cardholders to assist with tax returns for the tax filing season.

The first points of contact for getting taxes prepared are unit volunteer income tax advisors. Contact unit VITA representatives prior to calling the Ramstein tax office for an appointment or before coming in during walk-in hours.

The Ramstein tax center no longer has a full-time tax advisor on staff. The VITA program offers tax assistance for basic tax returns, and is not qualified to handle complicated tax returns.

Walk-in hours for tax assistance are 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Call 480-1040 for more information.
