Chief Master Sergeant Ernesto J. Rendon is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, 86th Airlift Wing, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. The 86th Airlift Wing is composed of seven groups and 32 squadrons across four bases in Germany, Spain, Belgium and Portugal. The wing's mission is to provide combat airlift and operate the Air Force's premier power projection platform. The 86th Airlift Wing conducts USAFE's only airlift, airdrop and aeromedical evacuation flying operations, as well as provides rapid mobility and expeditionary combat support for military operations. Chief Rendon advises the commander and senior leadership on military readiness, mission effectiveness, professional development, morale, welfare, training, and good order and discipline of the wing's 8,000 personnel. He ensures the commander's policies and guidance are known, understood, and enforced.

Chief Rendon entered the Air Force in October 1992. He graduated from the Air Transportation specialist course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, and his background includes various duties within the Air Transportation career field, including a three-year assignment as an Air Education and Training Command instructor supervisor for apprentice and craftsman courses. Chief Rendon also served as a First Sergeant for four Air Force units at two permanent duty stations and one deployed location. His assignments include bases in San Antonio and Washington with overseas assignments in Germany, Turkey and Japan. Chief Rendon deployed in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Prior to assuming his current position, he served as the Command Chief for the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath, England.
