8/13/2012 - RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- The 886th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal flight displayed mission capabilities to 32 British Royal air force cadets. EOD specialists briefed RAF cadets on different types of military-grade explosives, improvised explosive devices, rocket launchers and various components used to develop explosives.
The cadets were also shown how U.S. Air Force EOD teams protect themselves, by using heavily-armored, bomb-disposal suits and robots to complete their mission from a safe distance. The RAF cadets came to Ramstein to experience how the 886th CES conducts their mission and how it differs from British forces.
"This is important because it shows young people the value of the armed forces, what they do and encourage them to pursue a worthwhile career." said Matthew Leathard, RAF Air Training Corp cadet.
