Space A, PCS Town Hall
The 721st Aerial Port Squadron will conduct a Town-Hall (Space Available and PCS Travel Briefings). These briefings will be held at the Hercules Theater on May 21 at 11 a.m. The briefing will followed by a brief Q&A session. Possible topics can be expressed on the Ramstein Passenger Terminal Facebook page by starting the question with "Topic for Town-Hall briefing."
Possible delays at East Gate May 27-29
Expect possible delays entering and exiting Ramstein beginning 9 a.m. Monday, May 27 to 5 a.m. Wednesday May 29 due to construction at the East Gate. In an effort to reduce impact to the base, the ELVIS gate will be available for outbound vehicle traffic from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, as well as 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday. The ELVIS gate is also available from 6 to 9 a.m. for inbound traffic during this time.
Burglaries, House Break-ins, and Solicitors:
As the season changes, DoD personnel living in the KMC must remain alert and aware.
Your operations security practices at home should be the same as those at work. With the rise in temperature, there is an increase in the number of solicitors in our villages and neighborhoods.
Here are tips to reduce the chances your home will be burglarized:
--Consider mounting motion lights outside your home in order to scare a would-be thief away.
--Always lock doors and windows -- rolladens can be opened from the outside and are not considered a way to safeguard your home.
--Request your landlord to install an alarm system in your home.
--Remain alert and engaged in your neighborhoods; participating in Neighborhood Watch programs is a great way for you to get to know your neighbors and keep your area safe.
Maintaining a higher level of awareness makes everyone a "harder" target for any type of criminal activity. For more information call the 86th AW/AT office at 480-2115.
Hoover Street from Jefferson Ave to Bldg 548 closed April 8 to June 15
Hoover Street will be closed to vehicles during each phase of construction. During Phase I (8 April 13) the south half will be closed and Phase II (13 May 13) the north half will be closed. Parking will be severely limited.

***Update to Child Safety Situation:
Our number one community priority is safety, especially for our children. We appreciate everyone who has continued to support safety initiatives in the KMC.
There have been no new reports of attempted child molestations or attempted child abductions since April 2012, and we have many of you to thank for this.
As we continue into the spring and summer, we ask you to remain vigilant and engaged. Our Neighborhood Watch program has openings needing additional volunteers. The next training is at 3:30 p.m. on March 14th, Bldg 2787 on Kapaun.
Your participation is essential. If you would like to be a part of the Neighborhood Watch program, please contact Ramstein Security Forces at DSN 480-1215/478-2232; Commercial 06371 47 2050/06371 405 2232 or Vogelweh Security Forces at DSN 489-7051, Commercial 0631 536 7501. If residing at Vogelweh or Landstuhl, you can send an email to: vogelwehneighborhoodwatch@yahoo.com or neighborhoodwatch.lrmc@live.com. Like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/KMCNeighborhoodWatch.
We continue our joint policing efforts, especially in areas where there are large numbers of children on a regular basis. Additionally, DoDDs schools security measures remain in place. Again, thank you for making a difference by volunteering.

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, two students at Ramstein Elementary School reported that they were approached by an unknown male.
The students perceived the situation as unsafe, so they ran inside the school and reported the incident to their teacher, while the unknown male fled. School officials notified Security Forces, who immediately dispatched patrols, began searching for the individual, and conducted checks at Ramstein Air Base exits.
The Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) and the Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) are jointly investigating. Anyone with any information they think might help with the investigation is asked to call the 24 hour AFOSI Tip Line: Commercial 0171 745 5382.
The safety of our children remains our number one priority, and we are making every effort to identify the individual who approached the students and to assure the safety of all our children. Together, with a heightened sense of community awareness and increased security patrols, we are aggressively working to investigate this incident.
Remain vigilant and report any unusual activity to Law Enforcement. Contact Ramstein Security Forces at DSN 480-2050 or Commercial 06371-47-2050, or Vogelweh Security Forces at DSN 489-6060 or Commercial 0631-536 6060.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maintaining community awareness plays an important role in keeping our community safe, and our commitment is to keep you informed.
There have been no further reports of attempted child molestations or attempted child abductions since April 2012, and your vigilance is appreciated. However, Law enforcement has noticed an increase in parents leaving their children unattended. This violates the KMC Child Supervision Policy Matrix.
We continue our joint policing efforts especially around housing and school areas. DoDDs schools security measures remain in place and our Neighborhood Watch program continues to grow. The safety of our community remains our number one priority and we thank everyone for making a difference.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Community safety remains our number one priority and we appreciate your continued support, but we need your help. This past weekend a parent violated the KMC Child Supervision Policy Matrix by leaving young children unattended in a vehicle. Your vigilance and adherence to base policies will help keep our children and community safe.
From August 2011 to present there have been two alleged cases of child molestation and one case of attempted child abduction in the KMC. The victims were girls ages 5 to 7. There was also a report of children being approached by an adult male in a parking lot whose behavior they perceived as inappropriate.
The Neighborhood Watch program continues to grow and we thank everyone who is making a difference by volunteering. Your efforts make our community a great place to live, work and play.
