Ramstein Airman becomes first CMSgt Dental Hygienist
U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Shelly Jarvis, 86th Airlift Wing Dental Squadron superintendent and dental hygienist, works at her desk Nov. 7, 2018, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. As a dental hygienist, Jarvis can give patients deep cleanings, anesthetic, as well as chart and monitor patients with ailments such as gum disease. It was previously thought impossible for a dental hygienist to achieve the rank of chief master sergeant. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Kristof J. Rixmann)
