The beaten path: An Airman’s 381-mile walk for refuge
Staff Sgt. Martha Otto, a former South-Sudanese refugee, holds a photo of her nephew and nieces, whom, like Otto years ago, fled their civil war-torn country of South Sudan in search of safety from Joseph Kony’s Lord Resistance Army. The 86th Logistics Readiness Squadron training manager recently financially assisted her family out of a North Ugandan refugee camp and into boarding school and is passionate about sharing her story to help others.
